“Nothing is impossible, the word its self says I’m possible”- Audrey Hepburn. These are the words that I choose to live by. From my humble beginnings in Swaziland to working tirelessly towards completing my degree Cum Laude, I choose to face each opportunity life presents me with the attitude that “I am possible”.

Caitlin completed her honours degree in Biokinetics from the University of Witwatersrand in 2013, after which she completed her internship at a private practice in Rivonia, Johannesburg. Here she developed her love for all things rehab. Her personal interest in neurological rehabilitation has grown over the last few years, towards creating a multidisciplinary referral network to aid her clients in the best recovery possible. Although her interest in Biokinetics began and continues to flourish within the sports and orthopaedic recovery realm. She has the energy to assist any person better their physical wellness to build a balanced life.

Caitlin tries her best to live by her high standards of physical wellness and have competed in multiple endurance events, ranging from triathlons to ultra-distance trail running. Caitlin truly believes our bodies were meant to move, after all “Motion in lotion”.

Gemma finished her honours year at the University of Johannesburg in 2021. She spent a year working with Le Sueuer and West biokinetics in Somerset West, Cape Town and has done a lot of hands on approach with pre and post-surgery rehabilitation, core and pelvic stabilisation and activation as well as management of orthopaedic injuries such as muscular sprains, strains, body awareness, hydrotherapy and neurological, (traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries) and many types of
chronic conditions.

She is passionate about improving physical and mental function in patients, and improving self-confidence through strength training, aerobic cardiovascular and endurance training. She links her theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in practice and has always been interested in the working of the human body, exercise and rehabilitation. Through personal injury she came to enjoy the rehabilitation and prevention of injuries.

Gemma has coached various sports for 5 years and has gained a lot of attributes which have assisted in her development as a Biokineticist. Some of these are exercise prescription, understanding the demands of different sports, interpersonal skills, time and people management skills and learning how to read people.

Over the years Gemma has conducted consultations, routine sessions, health and fitness evaluations, preparing progress reports for physicians, and establishing exercise programs.

Gemma has always had a love for exercise and sports as well as being very interested in anatomy, the human body and biology; combining these topics of interest have brought a passion and interest in biokinetics.

Trojans Neurological Trust

Unfortunately, not all of the neurological patients are able to afford the treatment, as there are many costs to cover, not just therapy. In South Africa, we are unfortunately not fully streamlined in helping this group of the population. So the trust aims to help financially cover some of the therapies.
